L’Oreal Paradise Mascara – Worth The Hype?

Hello!

Like every other blogger, as soon as I could get my hands on this alleged dupe for the ‘Too Faced Better Than Sex’ mascara I snapped one up. Even the woman at the checkout had a discussion with me about it it’s that popular! This is the L’Oreal Paradise Mascara, retailing at around £9.99.

L'Oreal Paradise Mascara

This little guy promises to give you “intense volume” and “spectacular length” with minimal flaking. I can confirm from experience that this does live up to its claims. My lashes were lengthened with no clumps and they held a curl all day. The formula is also said to contain “lash-loving castor oil” for soft lashes which really works. Not once did my lashes feel hard or stuck together when wearing this – it is such a comfortable mascara to wear on an everyday basis.

The brush is lovely too! It is super thick and chunky like the ‘Better Than Sex’ wand so I can see why it has been acknowledged as a good dupe.

The only thing I would change about this is the packaging. Don’t get me wrong the colour is very pretty (I’m a sucker for anything rose gold), but the matte plastic tube just feels a little cheap. The end of the wand is made out of metal as opposed to the rest of the packaging which kind of makes it look like another wand has been inserted into a different mascara – if that makes any sense? Although it is not a deal breaker and I love how thin the tube is (very travel friendly).

Overall I am very impressed with this mascara, and I would repurchase it again over a high end one (drugstore mascaras are amazing aren’t they!).

Have you tried the L’Oreal Paradise Mascara?

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

Essie Fairy Tailor Nail Polish Review

Hello!

Essie is a relatively new brand to me because I’ve never tried any of their products until now. The nail polishes are a popular hit with many bloggers, and for years I have oozed over their gorgeous colour ranges and pretty bottles but I could never bring myself to spend so much on a nail polish. Anyway I bit the bullet and treat myself to the ‘Fairy Tailor’ shade I had my eyes on as I knew I would get a lot of use out of it.

This polish is from the Gel Couture range. I love gel nail polishes as they leave a really shiny, professional looking finish and they tend to last a long time before chipping. I managed to get about 5-6 days wear out of this before it started to chip which I was very impressed with as I usually ruin my nails after a day or two.

The bottle and wand design are really innovative too. The twisted bottle gives the polish a unique edge, and the wand itself is twisted to avoid those annoying big drops of excess polish ruining your manicure – how thoughtful!

My only wish is that the drying time would be a bit quicker. On the surface it takes an average time to dry, but for a good few hours after I found if I slightly knocked my nails then it would smudge the polish as it hadn’t fully set underneath.

Overall I love this shade. It is the perfect pinky-nude colour and it would be great for work or for those who don’t like bright colours but want their nails to look neat. In the photos I have 2 layers on so it looks a little opaque, but 1 thin coat gives the nails a pretty, natural looking shine.

What are your favourite Essie Nail polish shades?

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

July Favourites – Gratitude Edition

Hello!

I wasn’t going to do a favourites post this month as I’ve not really discovered many new things but then I thought I don’t necessarily have to talk about products, instead I’ll talk about my favourite gratitude moments sharing a few of the things I’ve been grateful for in July. I always find gratitude journals and lists really lift my mood and make me feel positive so I’m trying to do this more regularly. Anyway here is my list!

I found 2 jobs to apply for.

I tried avocado on toast for the first time and it was delicious.

I spoke to my high school friend who I haven’t seen in ages.

Buying ‘Essie Fairy Taylor’ nail polish as a treat for applying for jobs.

My skin cleared up a bit.

I got a free gym trial pass so I was able to go swimming and use the hot tub.

Receiving a prize for my dissertation.

Finally reading Milk and Honey – such a good book.

Appreciating all my lovely followers, and for everyone who has liked or commented on my posts.

Family day out to the beach.

My mum made me graduation cupcakes.

Fresh strawberries which I used to make a healthy breakfast smoothie bowl.

This was so much fun to write and I really enjoyed thinking of all my favourite ‘little’ and ‘big’ moments in July.

What things were you grateful for this past month I’d love to know?

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!
