My week in photos

Hello!

Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

I decided to take a few days off work this week to just chill and do some exploring and I thought I’d document it in a blog post because I don’t usually get the opportunity to blog about my week (normally you’d just get me sitting in an office, eating and then watching youtube).

Monday and Tuesday were normal work days so I’ll gloss over those days, but on Wednesday my boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to York for the day. I grew up in Yorkshire so it was so nice to visit somewhere that felt like home.

I love how traditional and beautiful York is. The weather was nice so we had a little picnic in the Minster gardens and drank tea.

We later explored the shops and as usual we ended up in Waterstones (best shop ever). I didn’t buy any books but I did treat myself to one of the new water bottles from Pret. I love the cute watermelon design.

I had to attend an all day conference for work on Thursday so I’ve no photos from that day, but I had the following Friday off so we did the usual food shop and I popped into Primark and picked up this cushion for £2 in the sale. Miffy was one of my childhood favourites so I couldn’t resist.

I also took advantage of the sales while the shops were empty. I only intended to browse but ended up buying this stripe t-shirt, a new GAP sweatshirt and a black denim skirt (ignore the state of my apartment).

I don’t usually get the chance to make myself nice lunches in the week so I decided to make avocado and salmon toast. It tasted amazing!

Speaking of delicious food, my boyfriend and I went out for our first ever date night since moving to the city. I’d never had a Frankie and Benny’s before so we went for pizza and I had this yummy waffle for dessert.

Afterwards we went to the cinema to watch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Saturday was a really chill day and I mostly watched YouTube, read, did some coursework and watered my plants.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my week. Are you looking forward to the week ahead?

May favourites

Hello!

Hope you’re all having a lovely start to June. I fancied writing a favourites post because I’ve been rather adventurous and tried out a lot of new things recently. There’s quite a few bits so I’ll dive straight into it!

Amazon Kindle

So this was quite a big purchase, but I had wanted one for ages and I do a lot of travelling for work so I knew it would get used often. I find I read so much more now I have a kindle because I can read one handed whilst doing other tasks too! Also it’s very slim and lightweight so I don’t have to carry huge books with me on train journeys anymore.

H&M spotted t-shirt

I saw this on instagram and knew I had to get it straight away. It had been sold out on their website for ages, but then I found it in store when I was shopping with my mum the other week and I was sooo happy to finally own it. It was only £3.99 too!

Lush Dream Cream and Aqua Marina Cleanser

I’ve been trying to strip back my skincare routine and go for more natural products as my skin is not very happy at the moment so I went to Lush to replace my cleanser and moisturiser. I’ll try not to waffle on about these too much as I wrote a review on them, but I really like how gentle they are on my skin and the moisturiser is huge – it will last me ages!

Carmex Cherry Lip Balm

I love these lip balms and I have used them for years. I piked this one up again and remembered how nice and moisturising it is. I love the smell too and the colours are super cute – it looks like a little rocket.

Artic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

Ok so I won’t lie at first I was not a fan (I still don’t think it’s their best album), but after a few listens I started to really enjoy some of the songs. It’s different to some of their other music and I feel like they have evolved into this new style as they’ve aged. My favourites are Batphone, Four Out Of Five and Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

Ring layering

Throughout May I’ve been loving the stacked ring trend, which does shock me because I used to hate wearing rings. I bought these from Accessorise last year and they’re really cute and perfect for layering as they’re so thin and dainty. Plus they remind me of the seaside because I got them when I went home for Christmas.

Strawberry Liquorice

Throwback to my teens here because I used to get these on the way to school and I’ve not seen them in shops for ages. I totally forgot these existed until the other day. Strawberry liquorice is my favourite treat and I could eat a whole bag of these to myself!

L’Oréal Elvive Dream Lengths No Haircut Cream

My hair is really long and it had been 14 months since my last trim when I got this so I decided it was the perfect time to put this to the test and see how well it works. I do feel like it made my split ends appear less noticeable so I definitely recommend it, although I went and got a trim anyway! I think on my newly cut hair it will be great to prevent any future damage.

 Aldi Blackberry & Bay Candle

For years I have wanted one of the Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay candles, but they are so expensive so I could never justify buying one. I’ve never seen any candles with this scent before, so when I heard Aldi were selling this dupe I was very excited. The smell is amazing and it does linger unlike some cheap candles which I find don’t have a strong smell. I’ve repurchased another two because I’m so obsessed!

That’s everything. Let me know in the comments what your favourites are for May.

Thank you for reading!
