3 current beauty obsessions

I hope you have had a lovely weekend.

With it being the start of the month I planned to do a favourites post but I’ve not really tried much out over June so I thought I would share with you 3 of my current beauty obsessions instead.

Clinique blushing blush

I purchased this when I was on the look out for some allergy tested makeup. I realised that the blusher I’d been using was nearly 3 years old (gross I know) so I decided to spend a bit more on my next blusher and go for something that wouldn’t upset my skin.

A lovely woman at boots offered to give me a makeover and she used this blush. I loved the look of it on my skin – it’s a lovely subtle pink shade and it is really natural but buildable. The shade I purchased was ‘Iced Lotus’.

The packaging of this is also beautiful. It feels really high quality, and I love the fact that you get a little mirror and brush. The bristles are very soft and it’s perfect for traveling as you don’t have to carry around an extra blusher brush. I’m off to London this week for 3 days and this is definitely coming with me!

I’m not usually a bronzer kind of girl but I loved the golden sun kissed glow this gave me when I tested it out in the store. It has a tiny bit of shimmer in it, but it’s not that noticeable on the skin which I like.

Usually I’m nervous that bronzers will make me look orange but I didn’t experience that effect with this. It can also be built up and it doesn’t go cakey like some bronzers can do. Overall it’s a lovely little bronzer and lasts all day on the skin!

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream skin protectant

All this summer weather is great, but the downside is that my skin gets really dry. I came across this moisturising balm in a YouTube video (I can’t remember who used it) but I thought I would give it a go as the reviews looked very positive. It is on the expensive side but I’m very glad I decided to spend the money because it’s done a great job of sorting out my dry patches.

I’ve tried all sorts of emollients prescribed to me for my eczema but this seems to be working so much better. Plus it’s multi-purpose too so I like to use it on my lips and hands.

I know from reading reviews that some people find the smell of this a little offensive but personally I don’t mind it. It’s a medicated kind of scent so some people might prefer the fragrance free alternative.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving recently?

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

I was so excited and extremely grateful when Influenster emailed me to tell me I was going to receive my first ever VoxBox! Inside I found two gel eyeliners by Marc Jacobs beauty in the shades ‘Earthquake’ and ‘Deja Blue’.*

I wear eyeliner most days so I was intrigued to see how I would get on with these. I won’t lie, I never envisioned myself wearing blue eyeliner so I was a little apprehensive about that one, but I knew I would love the dark brown colour as it is one of my go-to shades.

Firstly the formula is super creamy, and they glide on really well without tugging the delicate eye skin. I found the blue shade was slightly more creamier than the brown one, but they were both easy to use. I like to use a small liner brush and buff the Earthquake shade out to create a soft, smokey line – perfect for giving the eyes a subtle bit of definition. They are very pigmented too which is great!

I was really impressed the packaging. It feels very sleek and looks rather stylish. Also the eyeliners twist up so you don’t have to worry about sharpening them.

When it came to taking my makeup off at the end of the day I had no problems with this eyeliner. I usually use micellar water and I found a few wipes with a cotton pad were enough to remove all traces of makeup from my eyes. Sometimes my eye skin can get quite sensitive but these did not irritate my eyes so I was very pleased about that too.

Overall I really enjoyed using these, particularly the brown shade. I’m excited to play around more with the blue shade to create some pastel, springtime looks in the next few months.

Have you guys tried out any high end eyeliners? I what did you think?

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!
